How to add a DMARC record in Namecheap

DMARC is published as a TXT record at _dmarc under your domain. This page covers adding it in Namecheap's DNS editor. Start in monitoring mode (p=none) so nothing is blocked while you collect reports.

Steps

  1. Sign in to Namecheap, choose Domain List, then Manage next to your domain.
  2. Open the Advanced DNS tab and select Add new record.
  3. Choose TXT Record as the type.
  4. Enter _dmarc as the Host. Namecheap says not to include the domain name in that field.
  5. Paste this into Value:
    v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:dmarc@example.com
    Replace the rua address with a mailbox you read.
  6. Select Save all changes. Namecheap notes it can take about 30 minutes to take effect.
  7. Save, wait for DNS to update, then re-run the checker to confirm the record is found. Publish only one DMARC record per domain.

DMARC only passes when SPF or DKIM also passes and aligns with your From domain, so set those up too.
